Jose M. ‘’Indio’’ Alvarez, 64, of Uvalde died on Aug. 13, 2016, at his residence. He was born on Nov. 16, 1951, in Nueva Rosita, Coahuila, Mexico, to Catalina (Aguilar) and Manuel Alvarez. He married Beatriz Aguirre on Feb. 19, 1993, in Uvalde. He is survived by his wife of 23 years; three sons, David Polanco and wife, Cynthia, of Hondo, Simon Alvarez and wife, Isabel Ponce, and Adam Alvarez and wife, Lizette, all of Uvalde; 14 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and best friend, Fidencio Rivera. Alvarez was preceded in death by his parents and two sons, Joey Alvarez and Jaime Polanco. A rosary was recited on Monday and Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary. A funeral mass was held yesterday at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Cremation was under the direction of Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary.
