Maria Estella Sosa Pruneda, 70, of Uvalde died on Aug. 16, 2016, at her residence. She was born on Sept. 12, 1945, in Camp Wood to Andrea (Ruiz) and Juan Sosa. She is survived by one daughter, Dana Pruneda of San Antonio; two sons, Danny Pruneda of San Antonio, and Darrell Deason of Uvalde; two sisters, Aida Menchaca of Carrizo Springs, and Vicki Valencia of San Antonio; two brothers, Juan R. Sosa Jr. of Uvalde, and Hector Sosa of Austin; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Pruneda was preceded in death by her parents, and one brother, Ruben R. Sosa. A rosary was recited on Thursday at 7 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary. A funeral mass was held on Friday at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, followed by interment at Hillcrest Cemetery.
