Jose Angel “La Chueca” Perez, 83, of Uvalde died on Jan. 17, 2017, at his residence. He was born on April 23, 1933, in Uvalde to Leonarda (Perez) and Benito Perez. He married Elva Torralva on April 19, 1960, in Crystal City. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, of Uvalde; three daughters, Joann Flores and husband, Roy, Debbie Rangel and husband, Robert, and Lena De La Cerda and husband, Edward, all of Uvalde; four brothers, Ben Perez Jr. of Boerne, Rogelio Perez of Austin, and Ricardo Perez and Johnny Perez, both of Uvalde; six grandchildren, Roy Flores Jr., Jysenia De La Cerda Garcia, Roberto Rangel Jr., Rebekah Garza, Jared P. Flores, and Rennae Rangel; 15 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents. A rosary was recited on Wednesday and again on Thursday at 7 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary. A funeral mass was held on Friday at 2 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers were Jared Flores, Roy Flores Jr., Baldo Castillo, Jaime Martinez, Robert Rangel Jr., Felix Garza Jr., Willie Garcia III and Jesse Esparza Jr. Honorary pallbearers were David Ozuna, Armando Cardona, Antonio Vela, Lupe Garcia, Arnoldo Arrellano, and Oscar Felan.
