Jose B. ‘’Joe’’ Pargas Jr. 46, of La Pryor died on April 5, 2017, at Christus Sister Mary Hospice Center in San Antonio. A prayer service was held yesterday and will be held again today at 7 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary. A funeral service will be held tomorrow at 10 a.m. at Rushing-Estes- Knowles Mortuary. Interment will follow at La Pryor Cemetery. He was born on Jan. 6, 1971, in Carrizo Springs to Rosa (Castillo) and Jose B. Pargas Sr. He was a volunteer fireman with La Pryor Fire Department, an EMT and volunteered with a Boy Scout Troop. He is survived by his parents, of La Pryor; his companion, Rita Ochoa of La Pryor; one daughter, Patricia Nicole Pargas of Wichita, Kansas; three sons, Pfc. Joshua Taylor Pargas and wife, Brenda, of El Paso, and Jose Bermea Pargas III, and Julian Ray Pargas, both of La Pryor; two sisters, Raquel Pargas Arroyos and husband, Eduardo, of Uvalde, and Rosanna Pargas of La Pryor; two brothers, Joaquin Pargas and Jacob Pargas, both of La Pryor; two granddaughters, Emily Pargas and Emily Aguilar; six step-children, Becky Lopez, Rose Lopez Ramirez, Pedro Rodriguez, and Jaime Lopez, all of of Crystal City, Jose Lopez of Deansville, and Joanna Rodriguez of La Pryor; and 22 step-grandchildren. Pargas was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Antonia and Francisco Castillo, and paternal grandparents, Leocardia and Ramon Pargas. Pallbearers will be Joaquin Pargas, Jacob Pargas, Joshua Taylor Pargas, Jose B. Pargas III, Pedro Rodriguez III, Edward Cruz, Kevin McClanahan and Jose Lopez. Honorary pallbearers are Julian Ray Pargas, Zanthony Rodriguez, Jericko Cervantez and Patrick Ramirez.
