Lucilla Chavera, 70, of Batesville died on April 22, 2017, in Uvalde. She was born on June 18, 1946, in Batesville to Rafaela (Martinez) and Jose T. Vasquez. She married Tranquilino Chavera in August of 1974 in Pearsall. The family says Chavera loved nature and watching telenovelas. Chavera is survived by her husband of 42 years, of Pearsall; two sons, Reynaldo Chavera of Batesville and Rogelio Chavera of San Antonio; one sister, Alamar Lopez of San Antonio; three brothers, Jesus Vasquez and Adolfo Vasquez, both of Batesville, and Rafael Vasquez of Richmond; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Elida V. Garza and Rosalinda V. Rodriguez; and three brothers, Jose M. Vasquez, Guillermo Vasquez and Hector Vasquez. A rosary was recited on Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Rushing- Estes-Knowles Mortuary. A mass of resurrection was held yesterday at 11:30 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Batesville, followed by interment at Batesville Cemetery.
