Juanita G. Lopez, 72, of San Antonio, formerly of Sabinal, died on April 20, 2017, in San Antonio. She was born on Sept. 23, 1944, in Sabinal to Andrea (Martinez) and Arcardio Gomez. She married Alfredo Lopez on Aug. 16, 1959, in Juno, Wisconsin. The family says Lopez was a San Antonio Spurs fan and loved going gambling. Lopez is survived by her husband of 57 years; two sons, Alfredo Lopez Jr. and Joe Rene Lopez and wife, Isabel, all of San Antonio; one sister, Andrea Sanchez of Uvalde; four brothers, Mario Gomez of Sabinal, Monseis Gomez of San Antonio, and Thomas Gomez and Arcardio Gomez Jr., both of Wisconsin; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Eleanor Lopez Alvarado; her parents; and two sisters, Lupe Lopez and Camila Espinoza. A rosary was recited on Monday at 7 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary in Sabinal. A mass of resurrection was held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Sabinal, followed by interment at Sabinal Cemetery.
