Pascuala Atayde Caballero, 87, of Batesville died on May 11, 2017, in San Antonio. She was born on May 17, 1929, in Municipio de Ocampo, Coahuila, Mexico to Dolores (Sanchez) and Juan Atayde. She married Gabriel Caballero in 1950 in Boquillas del Carmen, Coahuila, Mexico. She is survived by her husband of 67 years; and one daughter, Maria Caballero Garza, both of Batesville; four sons, Teodoso Caballero and Gabriel Caballero Jr., both of Batesville, Francisco Javier Caballero of Tlaxcala, Mexico, and Miguel Caballero of Saltillo, Coahuila, Mexico; one sister, Flora Athayde of Presidio; one brother, Lucio Manuel Athayde of Municipio de Ocampo, Coahuila, Mexico; and numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Caballero was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Maria del Refugio Caballero; and numerous brothers and sisters. A funeral mass was held on Saturday at 2 p.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Batesville, followed by interment at Batesville Cemetery.
