
Robert Earl “Trey” Hunt III, 41, of Millsap died on May 14, 2017, in Brighton, Colorado, of brain cancer. He was born on July 28, 1975, in Houston to Jamie (Hicks) and Bobby Hunt, both formerly of Uvalde. The family says he was an esteemed trainer and coach within the North Texas cutting horse community. An National Cutting Horse Association member since 1988, Hunt specialized in starting and fitting two-year-olds and was the NCHA lifetime earner of $179,795. He had the second highest-selling colt, STP Tell Me Kitty, who sold for $200,000. “He loved horses and he loved cutting. He adored his wife and daughter,” said his father. Hunt is survived by his parents, of Comfort; wife, Jenna Hunt; and one daughter, Kay Hunt, both of Millsap; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, relatives and friends. A celebration of life was held on May 24, 2017, at 2 p.m. at Parker County Sheriff’s Posse Hall in Weatherford.
