Julia Mendez Carreon, 67, of Uvalde died on May 30, 2017, at Methodist Hospital in San Antonio. She was born on Dec. 25, 1949, in Castaños, Coahuila, Mexico to Juanita Guzman Prado and Francisco Mendez. She is survived by her husband, Victor Carreon of Uvalde; mother, of Castaños, Coahuila, Mexico; three daughters, Sanjuana Carreon Mendez of Piedras Negras, Coahuila, Mexico, and Maria Elizabeth Carreon Mendez and Ruth Abigail Carreon Mendez, both of Uvalde; two sons, Victor Manuel Carreon Mendez of Uvalde, and Jose Arturo Carreon Mendez of Piedras Negras, Coahuila, Mexico; one sister, Zapopan Mendez Guzman of Castaños, Coahuila, Mexico; three brothers, Armando Mendez Guzman, Ramon Mendez Guzman, and Jose Mendez Guzman, all of Castaños, Coahuila, Mexico; 12 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, and one brother, Gilberto Barajas. A prayer service was held on Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary. A funeral service was held on Thursday at 3 p.m. at Templo Cristiano Church, followed by interment at Hillcrest Cemetery. Pallbearers were Victor Manuel Carreon Mendez, Jose Arturo Carreon Mendez, Azariel Carreon Hernandez, Abraham Garza, Pablo Rodriguez and Jose Mendez Guzman.
