Herlinda Mendoza, 79, of Uvalde died on June 27, 2017, at her residence. A rosary was recited yesterday and will be recited again today at 7 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary. A funeral mass will be held tomorrow at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, followed by interment at Hillcrest Cemetery. She was born on Aug. 25, 1937, in Villa De La Paz, San Luis Potosi, Mexico, to Ester (Gaitan) and Carlos Martinez. She married Valente T. Mendoza on Jan. 1, 1956, in Villa De La Paz, San Luis Potosi, Mexico. She is survived by three daughters, Leticia Mendoza Carreon and husband, Miguel, Dora Mendoza and companion, Fidencio Garcia, and Gloria Gonzales and husband, Juan, all of Uvalde; two sons, Carlos Mendoza and Valente Mendoza, both of Uvalde; 17 grandchildren; 14 greatgrandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and one son, Martin Mendoza. Pallbearers will be Gilbert Arredondo Jr., Valente Mendoza III, Carlos Mendoza Jr., Miguel Carreon Jr., Juan Gonzalez Jr., Emma Valeria Mendoza and Valente Carreon.
