
Robert “Bob” R. Locke, 88, of Kerrville, died on June 25, 2017, in Kerrville. A funeral service will be held on Monday at 2 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Kerrville. Rob Lohmeyer of the First Presbyterian Church of Kerrville will officiate. He was born on Aug. 5, 1928, in Sabinal to Mabel (Cartwright) and Ira P. Locke. Locke grew up in Sabinal and graduated from Sabinal High School. He graduated from Texas A&M University in 1949, with a Bachelor of Science degree in chemical engineering. He married Lenora Kornegay on Nov. 24, 1956, in Fort Worth. He was a veteran of the Korean War and served in the U.S. Air Force, retiring as a Major. After military service, he went to work for Pure Oil Company, which later became part of the Union Oil Company of California. Locke worked for Union Oil for 35 years in several different locations across the United States, eventually retiring from his position as supervisor of gas contracts in Midland. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one halfsister, Dorothy Akoury. Locke is survived by his wife, Lenora K. Locke of Kerrville, and one son, Stephen R. Locke of Houston.
