Jesse Eric Valdez, 37, of Uvalde, died on July 3, 2017, at his residence. Graveside services will be held today at 10:30 a.m. at Hillcrest Cemetery. He was born on April 4, 1980, in Pearsall to Dora (Gomez) and Nicholas M. Valdez Jr. He is survived by his mother, of Uvalde; one daughter, Mariah Valdez of Uvalde; one brother, James Valdez of Pearsall; one granddaughter, Ariyanna Martinez of Uvalde; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Valdez was preceded in death by his father; one brother, David G. Valdez; maternal grandparents, Josefa M. and Nicholas R. Valdez; and paternal grandparents, Maria H. and Miguel Gomez. A prayer service was held yesterday at 7 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary. Pallbearers were Mike Gomez, Rick Gomez, Robert Gomez, Peter Victorio, Carlos Cortez, Alex Davila, Jesus Garcia, Frank Alvarez and Jose Martinez.
