Louise Price Trees, 97, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, July 2, 2017, at 11:50 a.m. She was born Frances Louise Dyess on June 24, 1920, in Jeff Davis County, Mississippi, to parents Lonnie S. Dyess and Ida Mae Shoemake Dyess. She was the eldest of their six children. At the time of her death, she was living with her daughter, Twila Price Flowers and her husband, Troy G. Flowers, in Carriere, Mississippi. Her funeral services are being handled by Hulett Winstead Funeral Home in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, and were scheduled for Friday, July 7, 2017, in the chapel of Hulett Winstead Funeral Home. A visitation began at 10 a.m. and was followed by a service at 11:30 a.m. The Rev. Glenn Shoemake and Dr. Alan D. Strange officiated. Interment followed at Highland Park Cemetery in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. On Oct. 5, 1941, Frances Louise Dyess married Dennis E. Price Sr. (predeceased) of Stone County, Mississippi. He was in the U.S. Navy and they lived in San Diego, California, and New Orleans, Louisiana, prior to returning to Mississippi and starting their family at the end of World War II. She is survived by her children, Dennis E. Price Sr. and his wife, Barbara, of Harlingen, Texas, Twila Price Flowers and her husband, Troy, of Picayune, Mississippi, and Stephen Carey Price and his wife, Donna, of Garland, Texas. Following the death of her husband in October of 1963 in Mobile, Alabama, she moved her family back to Hattiesburg, Mississippi, and bought a house on North 22nd Avenue. She worked as the secretary for a local insurance agency a while before becoming the secretary for Dr. Joseph Greene, Dean of the School of Business at the University of Southern Mississippi. On June 1, 1970, Louise married Walter O. Trees (predeceased) and moved to Del Rio. After several years, they bought a small farm near Uvalde and moved there. They lived there together until his death in August of 2014. She is survived by his daughters, Barbara Trees McCabe of Kerrville, and Beverly Thompson of Medway, Ohio. In April of 2015, Louise moved back to Mississippi to live with her daughter. During her tenure in Texas, she fulfilled a lifelong dream by completing her B.A. in English and education. She then taught high school for a few years. She was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Uvalde for many years, where she taught a ladies’ Sunday School class. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Alexine McIlwain and Winnie Strange, also her brothers, L. S. Dyess Jr. and Roy G. Dyess. She is survived by her brother, Edwin G. Dyess and wife, Theda, of Brandon, Mississippi. Other survivors include grandchildren: Troy Glen Flowers Jr., Stephanie F. (Jeff) Carson, Amanda (Chris) Daniels, Andrea (Leonel) Munoz; great grandchildren, Aaron Munoz, Ava Munoz, Chloe Carson, Caston Daniels, Stella Carson and Landry Munoz; and many nieces and nephews.
