Rodolfo Cortez, 63, of Uvalde died on July 10, 2016, at Amistad Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was born on April 1, 1953, in La Piedad de Cabadas, Michoacán, Mexico to Olivia (Landeros) and Gonzalo Marin Cortez. He married Angela Rodriguez Zamora in Michoacán, Mexico on May 25, 1974. He is survived by his wife, of Uvalde; father, of La Noria, Mexico; three daughters, Yolanda Vaglienty and husband, Rudy, and Rosa Longoria, all of Houston, and Lucy Rojas and husband, George, of San Antonio; three sons, Rodolfo Cortez Jr., of Knippa, Rolando Cortez and wife, Imelda Sambrano, and Mark Anthony Cortez, all of La Pryor; four sisters, Elena Cortez, Blanca Cortez, Modesta Cortez, and Socorro Cortez, all of La Piedad de Cabadas, Michoacán, Mexico; seven brothers, Gonzalo Cortez, Emilio Cortez, and Nicholas Cortez, all of La Piedad de Cabadas Michoacán, Mexico, Elias Cortez of Eagle Pass, Ramon Cortez of Phoenix, Arizona, Angel Cortez of Dallas, and Daniel Cortez of Knippa; and 16 grandchildren, Emily Cortez, Rodolfo Santiago Cortez III, Miley Cortez, Liliana Sofia Vaglienty, Lucia Olivia Vaglienty, Aaron Jace Munoz, Tristan Isaiah Munoz, Hailey Cheyenne Munoz, Victoria Anahi Longoria, Damian Longoria, Devin Lee Cortez, Roselyn Alexandra Cortez, Dominick Jace Cortez, Kerissa Paige Cortez, Natalie Faith Cortez, and Jalen Faye Cortez. He was preceded in death by his mother and one brother, Rafael Cortez. A prayer service was held on Monday and again on Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary. Cremation is under the direction of Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuar.
