
John Allen Wilmoth, 68, of Seguin, formerly of Uvalde, died on Aug. 9, 2016, in Seguin. A memorial service will be held on Aug. 20, 2016, at 3 p.m. at First United Methodist Church of Seguin. The Rev. Ron Welborn and the Rev. Andy Smith will officiate. He was born on April 6, 1948, in Bastrop, Louisiana, to Roberta (Walker) and Thomas Wilmoth. He was a peace officer and worked in the criminal justice field for probation departments in Uvalde and San Angelo. According to the family, above all else, he was a family man; he loved spending time outdoors with family and taking trips across the country on his motorcycle with his beloved wife. The family says he also devoted time to animal rescue and adopted many of the pit bulls that were placed with him. He was preceded in death by his parents. Wilmoth is survived by his wife, Christine Wilmoth of Seguin; five children, Melanie Chavez and husband, Saul, of Camp Wood, Melody Vernor and husband, Carroll, of Barksdale, Cory Nelson and wife, Caroline of Cibolo, and Aaron Nelson, Shalan Judd and husband, Bryan, all of New Braunfels; nine grandchildren, C.K. Hutcherson and fiancée, Sarah Journey, T.J. Hutcherson, Micah Vernor, Anna Vernor, Taylor Nelson, Makenna Nelson, Jared Nelson, Grant Judd, and Bryce Judd; one great-granddaughter; one brother, Tommy Wilmoth and wife, ZoeAnn, of Texas; and numerous nieces, nephews, and loving friends. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society, P.O. Box 1593, Seguin, TX, 78155. Arrangements are under the direction of Tres Hewell Mortuary.
