Services for Leama Gene Keele Holmes, 91, of Liberty City, were held on Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Chandler Street Church of Christ in Kilgore. Graveside services were held yesterday at 2 p.m. at the Uvalde Cemetery. Gene was born on Feb. 20, 1925, to Leamon Ganaway Keele and Alta Mae Howell Keele. She was married to Jesse Edward Holmes on Aug. 31, 1942. They were married for 52 years when he passed away. They had four children: the late Terry Joe; Berverly Stanglin and her husband, John, of Liberty City; Howard Holmes of Kerrville; and Gary Holmes and his wife, Joye, of Mansfield. Gene has nine grandchildren, 24 greatgrandchildren, and one brother, Bill Keele and his wife, Kay, of Arlington.
