Juan Rios, 65, of Batesville died on Aug. 12, 2016, in New Braunfels. He was born on Feb. 4, 1951, in Batesville to Barbarita (Sambrano) and Domingo Rios. He is survived by his wife, Suzanne Allen Rios of Batesville; two daughters, Adelita Rios of New Braunfels, and Brittany Rodriguez of La Pryor; four sons, Juan Antonio Rios of Asherton, Damian Rios of New Braunfels, Manuel Rios of Pinconning, Michigan, and Esiquio Esparza of Batesville; three sisters, Estella Rios and Delia Vasquez, both of Batesville, and Trinidad Lara of Uvalde; six brothers, Regino Rios, Jose Santos Rios and Julian Rios, all of Batesville, Feliciano Rios of Carrizo Springs, Eluterio Rios of Catarina, and Domingo Rios of Georgia; 19 grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Rios was preceded in death by one son, Ramiro Rios; parents; and one sister, Elvira Rios. A rosary was recited on Saturday and Sunday at 7 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary. A funeral mass was held on Monday at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Batesville. Interment followed at Batesville Cemetery. Pallbearers were Damian Rios, Tito Rios, Jeronimo Salgado, Justin Rios, Robert Lara, and Felipe Lara. Honorary pallbearers were Richard Bennett, Wally Garcia, and Asael Melendrez.
