Zulema C. Medina, 77, of La Pryor died on Oct. 13, 2016, in San Antonio. She was born on Feb. 4, 1939, in La Pryor to Irene (Hernandez) and Jesus Cervantez. She married Alejandro Medina in 1961 in Laredo. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, of La Pryor; three sons, Jose Cervantez of Willmar, Minnesota, Alejandro Medina Jr. and wife, Martha, and Thomas Medina and wife, Rosantina; three daughters, Margot Perez and husband, Roberto, Irene Herrera and husband, Saul, and Anita Medina; one sister, Rebecca Pargas; and one brother, Juan Cervantez and wife, Tammy, all of La Pryor; 18 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Medina was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Jesus Cervantez; and one sister, Jesusita Esquivel. A funeral mass was held on Tuesday at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, followed by interment at La Pryor Cemetery. Pallbearers were Alejandro Medina III, Israel J. Medina, Jose Guzman, Jose Cervantez, Ralph Cervantez, and Evelio Valiente. Honorary pallbearer was Robert Perez.
