George Robert McCarley, age 73, of Uvalde, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Oct. 16, 2016, at Peterson Regional Memorial Hospital in Kerrville. He was born on June 22, 1943, in San Antonio to George Tyra McCarley and Atha Bee (Hendrickson) McCarley. On April 23, 1964, he married Dorothy Howard in Cotulla. In 1966, he joined the U.S. Navy and was assigned to nuclear submarines. He served on the USS Wasp, USS Sam Rayburn and USS Flying Fish. He spent six years in the military. After his service in the military, he was employed by CPL and AEP for over 30 years, from which he retired. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Richard McCarley. Survivors include wife, Dorothy McCarley of Uvalde; daughter, Kendall Patterson and husband, Cuatro, of Kerrville; son, Brian McCarley and wife, Jennifer, of Georgetown; sister, Sarabeth McFadin and husband, Archie, of Uvalde; grandchildren, Hunter Patterson, Riley Patterson, Mason McCarley and Rylan McCarley; and nieces, Keri Baker, Kathy Phillips and Jill Foster. He will be greatly missed by his friends and family. Private services will be held at a later date on the family ranch he loved so much.
