
Rachel Ann McCracken, 87, of Uvalde died on Oct. 17, 2016, in Salt Lake City, Utah, following an illness. The family says that though she enjoyed the Texas winters and lived in Uvalde for seven years, she was a former longtime resident of Farson, Wyoming, She was born on Feb. 20, 1929, in Washington, Pennsylvania, to Rose (Martino) and Peter West. She attended and graduated from Washington High School with the class of 1947. She married Paul Edmond McCracken on Dec. 4, 1952, in Las Vegas, Nevada. McCracken was employed as a librarian at the Farson-Eden School for many years. She was a long time member of Eden Valley Baptist Church and taught Sunday school, as well as volunteering twice weekly for Friends of Hospice in Uvalde. She is survived by her husband, of Rock Springs, Wyoming; four sons, Scott McCracken and wife, Caron, of Lexington, Kentucky, Mark McCracken and wife, Connie, of Farson, Wyoming, Paul Michael McCracken and wife, Dayna, of Rock Springs, Wyoming, and David McCracken and wife, Andrea, of Keller; two daughters, Lisa Workman and husband, Larry, of Draper, Utah, and Rebekah James and husband, Russell, of Uvalde; one sister, Mary Lou Martin of Downey, California; 22 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Stephen John, who died in 1986; one brother Don West; and one granddaughter, Alexandria Wisdom Blaze McCracken. A visitation was held on Thursday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Vase Funeral Home in Rock Springs, Wyoming. Funeral services were conducted on Friday at 11 a.m. at the Farson Community Hall in Farson, Wyoming, followed by interment at the Farson Cemetery.
