Fred W. Cox

Fred William Cox, 82, of Barksdale died on Oct. 25, 2016, at Hill Country Memorial Hospital. He was born on March 28, 1934, in Camp Wood to Mona Lola (Blakeney) and Milas John Allen Cox. He was a member of the Barksdale Baptist Church. He was a member of the Nueces Canyon Volunteer Fire Department in Camp Wood for more than 20 years, and the Nueces Canyon Emergency Medical Services for 12 years. Cox is survived by his wife of 49 years, Annette L. Pardue Cox of Barksdale; two daughters, Ramona McGinne and husband, Herschel, of Navasota, and Diane Roberts of San Antonio; two sons, Mark Cox and wife, LeAnn, of Camp Wood, and Billy Joe Pardue of Ely, Arizona; two sisters, Nellie Faye Williams and husband, Marvin, and Sallie Marie Roberts, all of Camp Wood; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Cox was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Nona Whitley; two brothers-in-law, T.L. Whitley and Chubby Roberts; three brothers, H.J. “John” Cox, Arthur Cox, and Eugene Cox; one sister-in-law, Ronnie Cox; one grandchild, Mark Anthony Cox; and one greatnephew, Bobbie Williams. A memorial service was held yesterday at 10:30 a.m. at the Barksdale Baptist Church. Deacon Bill Caudle officiated. Interment of cremains will take place at a later date at the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Barksdale. Memorial contributions may be made to Barksdale Baptist Church, Angel fund, P.O.
