Hume Cofer, 93, of Austin died on Nov. 13, 2016, in Austin. A memorial service will be held tomorrow at 2 p.m at University United Methodist Church, 2409 Guadalupe, Austin, TX, 78705. Parking is available at Allright Parking at 25th and Guadalupe, across the street from the church, and will be complimentary for those attending the services. He was born on July 19, 1923, in Austin to George (Hume) and John D. Cofer. From 1977 through 1988 he was judge of the 98th District Court in Austin, and then for 12 years was a senior district judge, when he was assigned to various district courts in 12 counties, from Amarillo to Edinburg. For several years he was a member, and for some years chairman of the ethics committee of the judicial section of the State Bar of Texas. Cofer is survived by his wife, Carol Nan (McGlothlin/Williamson) Cofer of Austin; two sons, George H. Cofer Jr. and wife, Mary Elizabeth, of Austin, and William “Bill” F. Cofer and wife, Patsy, of Sabinal; one stepson, Charles Williamson and wife, Anita, of Farmers Branch; three granddaughters, Tina Kay Cofer Trulove of Boerne, Chesleigh Paige Cofer Lloyd of Fort Worth, and Hanna Morgan Cofer of Austin; and three great-grandchildren.
