Raul E. Alejandro passed away peacefully on Nov. 15, 2016, at his home in Salem, Oregon. Raul was born in Sabinal to Juan and Maria Alejandro on March 11, 1917. As a young man his parents sent Raul to school in Mexico where he learned both languages (English, Spanish). His love for books and maps is evident in the collection he left behind. Raul married Josephina Contreras; they spent 52 years together and went on to have four sons and five daughters. Most of Raul’s adult life, he spent under the hood of a car. Mechanics was a fascination for him. For example, a Chevy motor in a Ford wagon. Raul was preceded in death by his wife, Josephina; sons, Juan, Raul Jr., and Dodo. He is survived by son Albert Alejandro (Pasco); daughters, Ramona Finley (Richland), Amelia Alejandro (Pasco), Lupe Gutierrez (Salem), Margie Corrando (Yakima), Dora Alejandro (Salem); 31 grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren. Those we love can never be more than a thought away. For as long as there is memory, they live on in our hearts.
