Warren T. Fulcher

Warren Thomas Fulcher, 68, of Uvalde died on Nov. 21, 2016, in San Antonio. A memorial service will be held on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Rushing- Estes-Knowles Mortuary. The Rev. Ray Melton will officiate. A time of fellowship will immediately follow at the Christian Life Center at First United Methodist Church of Uvalde, located at 301 N. High St. He was born on Aug. 21, 1948, in Stephenville to Christine (Woolf) and Warren G. Fulcher. He married Clara Watkins on Nov. 7, 1971, in Uvalde. Fulcher was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served as an aircraft mechanic from 1971 to 1972. He was stationed at Fort Hood where he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal as a sharpshooter. He was employed by the city of Uvalde for 40 years, serving as water superintendent in the utility department; he was also an active volunteer with the Uvalde Volunteer Fire Department for 18 years. According to the family, Fulcher was an avid pilot for 20 years, and he and his wife enjoyed flying to Ruidoso, New Mexico, Mississippi, and all points in Texas. The family says he loved to fish and relished many trips to Lake Amistad in Del Rio, trying to catch elusive bass; and he enjoyed the family cabin at Concan, often bringing friends and family to the Frio River. The family says at heart, he was a family man who enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, great-grandchild, and nieces and nephews. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, of Uvalde; one daughter, Alicia Hearn and husband, Bobby, of Uvalde; one son, Clint Fulcher and wife, Katy, of Sabinal; one sister, Maggie Young; and one brother, Elton Fulcher, both of San Antonio; six grandchildren, Tayler Hearn and wife, Ali, Ty Hearn, Delaney Fulcher, Ryleigh Fulcher, Aubrey Fulcher, and Hennley Fulcher; one great-granddaughter, Nollie Hearn; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Bales, Shad Bales, H.O. Watkins, Melvin Young, Bob Atkinson, Tayler Hearn, Juan Zamora, city of Uvalde employees, and past and present members of Uvalde Volunteer Fire Dept. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Uvalde Volunteer Fire Dept., 123 S. Getty St., Uvalde, TX, 78801.
