Nicolas ‘’Nick’’ Ruiz Jr., 68, of Uvalde died on Nov. 27, 2016, in San Antonio. A graveside services will be held today at 3 p.m. at Hillcrest Cemetery. He was born on March 9, 1948, in Uvalde to Teresa (Arredondo) and Nicolas Ruiz Sr. He is survived by two sisters, Dora Ocasio of Uvalde, and Minerva Smijkowski and husband, Edmund, of Chicago, Illinois; one brother, Henry Ruiz of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Ruiz was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother-in-law, Luis Ocasio. A prayer service was held yesterday at 7 p.m. at Rushing- Estes-Knowles Mortuary. Pallbearers will be Joseph Barber, Adam Ocasio, Angel Ocasio, Sabino Alvarez, Luis Vasquez, and Henry Ruiz Sr.
