Rito Perez Sr., 79, of Uvalde died on Feb. 16, 2017, at his residence. He was born on May, 22 1937, in Falfurrias to Esther (Luna) and Pedro Perez. He married Natividad Perez on Oct. 31, 1959, in Clarendon. The family says he enjoyed working as a carpenter by trade; and playing the accordion in his spare time; and he was a dedicated husband and loving father. He was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Perez is survived by his wife of 56 years, of Uvalde; three sons, Rito Perez Jr., Ricardo Perez, and Gilberto Perez, all of Uvalde; three daughters, Rosemary Perez Brook and husband, Tim, of St. Louis, Missouri, Diana Perez Franco of San Antonio, and Alicia Perez Benavidez and husband, Rick, of New Braunfels; 16 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Perez was preceded in death by his parents. The family says he will be deeply missed by all of his family and friends. A rosary was recited on Saturday and again on Sunday at 7 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary. A funeral mass was held on Monday at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, followed by interment at Hillcrest Cemetery. Pallbearers were Rito Perez III, Rick Perez Jr., Sostenes Rocha III, Erick Benavidez, Gilbert Aaron Perez and Dominick Benavidez.
