Alfredo R. Menchaca, 91, of La Pryor died on Feb. 21, 2017, at the Methodist Hospital in San Antonio. He was born on Jan. 6, 1926, in Junction to Micaela (Rodriguez) and Abraham Menchaca. He is survived by his wife, Natalia Acosta Menchaca of La Pryor; eight daughters, Martha Bueno and husband, Raymundo Gonzales, of Kyle, Victoria Olvera and husband, Jerry, of San Antonio, Maria Elena Menchaca, Maria Isabel Menchaca and husband, Epharim Gomez, all of Hondo, Natalia Vasquez of La Pryor, Margarita “Petty” Garcia and husband, Arturo, and Teresa Mancha and husband, Arturo, all of Eagle Pass, and Linda Martinez of San Antonio; two sons, Alfredo Menchaca Jr. of La Pryor, Armando Menchaca and wife, Blasina, of Fort Hood; two stepsons, Humberto Bueno and Ernesto Bueno, both of Piedras Negras, Coahuila, Mexico; one brother, Armando Menchaca of Eagle Pass; 26 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters; and four brothers. A prayer service was held on Thursday and Friday at 7 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary. A graveside service was held yesterday at 10 a.m. at La Pryor Cemetery.
