Maria De Jesus Ramirez, 90, of Uvalde died on March 6, 2017, at Uvalde Memorial Hospital. She was born on Jan. 6, 1927, in Nava, Coahuila, Mexico, to Porfiria (Perez) and Andres Ramirez. She married Margarito Ramirez on Dec. 22, 1946, in Nava, Coahuila, Mexico. She is survived by one daughter, Juana Alicia Elizondo and husband, Ernesto; three sons, Miguel Luna Ramirez and wife, Maria, and Gerardo Luna, all of Uvalde, and Manuel Luna and wife, Alma Rosa, of Nava, Coahuila, Mexico; two brothers, Felipe Ramirez and wife, Belia, and Francisco Ramirez and wife, Rita, all of Nava, Coahuila, Mexico; 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and one brother, Pedro Ramirez. A rosary was recited on Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Rushing- Estes-Knowles Mortuary. A funeral mass was held yesterday at 11:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Pallbearers were Ernest Elizondo Jr., Gerardo Luna Jr., Julia Cesar Luna, Miguel Luna, Manuel Luna, and Marcos Luna.
