Tommy R. “Tomcat” Silva Jr., 69, of Uvalde died on April 10, 2016, at his residence. A prayer service will be held today at 7 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary. A funeral service will be held tomorrow at 11 a.m. at the Rushing-Estes- Knowles Mortuary, with interment to follow at the Hillcrest Cemetery. He was born on Nov. 22, 1946, in Galveston to Eva (Reyna) and Thomas Silva. He married Delia G. Silva in Uvalde on July 8, 1963. He was a truck driver for 27 years prior to his retirement. The family says he loved being out on the road exploring the United States and sharing his stories. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, of Uvalde; two daughters, Theresa S. Rodriguez and husband, Edward T. Sr., of San Antonio, Pauline S. Garcia and husband, Marco, of Uvalde; three sons, Tommy G. Silva III and wife, Maria, of Seguin, George G. Silva and wife, Laura, and John P. Silva Sr., all of Uvalde; 19 grandchildren, Andrea M. Garcia, Ramon S. Rios Jr., Roseanna Silva, Kristine S. Rodriguez, Kathleen Rodriguez, Crystale S. Rodriguez, Edward S. Rodriguez, Jr., George Silva, Steven Silva, Dillon Silva, Samantha Silva, Jasmine Silva, Tommy R. Silva IV., Christopher Silva, Maximiliano Silva, Georgina Silva, Daniel Silva, and Kimberly Silva; 27 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Theresa S. Rocha and husband, Francisco, of Yuma, Arizona, Patty Varnado and husband, Eric, of Alvin, Carol Galloway and husband, Wayne, of Lake Jackson, and Lori S. Joseph and husband, Timothy, of Alvin; two brothers-in-law, Arnulfo Gonzales and wife, Esperanza, of Knippa, and Maximiliano Gonzales and wife, Rosalinda, of Uvalde; one sister-in-law, Minerva Gonzales of Uvalde; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Eva S. Monarrez; son-in-law, Ramon S. Rios; grandmother who raised him, Paulita Rocha Garcia; parents; mother-in-law, Manuela M. Gonzales; father-in-law, Maximiliano Gonzales; and one brother-in-law, Jose Valente Gonzales.
