Edith LaNelle Stevens, 87, of Marietta, Oklahoma, formerly of Camp Wood, died on April 12, 2016, at her home. She was born on Feb. 24, 1929, in Wise County to Hila Mae (Wright) and Loss Shults. She married Charlie Raymon Stevens on March 28, 1945, in Fort Worth. The couple had recently celebrated 71 years of marriage. The family says Stevens .was a homemaker; enjoyed playing cards, dominos, bunko, and various board games; and expressed her creative side by sewing, crocheting, and playing the piano and the pump organ. According to the family, she loved camping along the Nueces River, and watching the deer and turkeys. She was also a member of the 74 Domino Club. The family says many people will remember the meals she prepared, often spending her time in the kitchen, cooking and baking. Though many things brought her joy, her most meaningful activity was spending time with her family. Stevens was preceded in death by her parents; by family friends, Mabel and Ray Burkholder, who raised her as their own; one infant son, Roger Keith Stevens; three brothers, Wilbur Shults, Leslie Shults, and Clifford Shults; and three sisters, Mildred Richeson, Faye Morgan, and Hazel Pace. She is survived by her husband; one son, Gary Stevens and wife, Beverly, of Shawnee, Oklahoma; two daughters, Louise Harris and husband, Lonnie, of Ardmore, Oklahoma, and Debra Siller and husband, Lee, of Greenville, Oklahoma; one brother, Harvey Shults of Kerrville; seven grandchildren; 11 greatgrandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friend, Jean Caldwell. Graveside services were conducted at 10 a.m. on April 15, 2016, in the McAlister Cemetery near Overbrook, Oklahoma with Clyde Lindsey officiating.
