Johnny Roscoe Dunlap, 84, a retired chief mechanic, died Thursday, April 27, 2017. A funeral will be held today at 1:30 p.m. at the Mount Olivet Chapel in Fort Worth. Interment will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery. A visitation was held yesterday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Mount Olivet. Johnny was born May 30, 1932, in Grapevine to Peter Roscoe Dunlap and Willie Mae McClure, a pioneer family of Tarrant County and whose Texas ancestral roots go back to the mid- 1800’s, First Families of Texas. Johnny attended Smithfield Elementary and graduated from Carter-Riverside, class of 1949. After graduation, he was employed by Williamson-Dickie Mfg. Co. for 47 years, until his retirement in 1997 as chief mechanic. In 1953, he and his young family were transferred to Uvalde, where they lived for 15 years, and in 1968, they returned to North Richland Hills, where he remained until his death. Johnny was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Curtis; sisters, Melba Hubbard, Wilma Wills, Imogene Millirons, and Barbara Hubbard. Survivors: wife, Juanita; son, Dennis (Jackie); daughters, Romona and Brenda (Eddie); grandson, Joshua (Jesslyn); two great-granddaughters, Emery and Harper; and many nieces and nephews.
