Ernestina A. “Nana” Flores, 86, of Uvalde died on April 18, 2016, in San Antonio. She was born to Josefa (Barragan) and Pedro Aguilar on Oct. 18, 1929, in Marfa. She married Ruben R. Flores on Dec. 31, 1954, in Uvalde. Flores, a longtime resident of Uvalde, was a beautician. She owned and operated Nana’s Beauty Shop for more than 35 years. She is survived by one brother, Beto Aguilar of Uvalde; one sister, Emma Sue Cordova of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; three daughters, Azucena Hinds of Plano, Azalea Samarripa of Uvalde, and Azennette Hernandez and husband, Michael, of San Antonio; five grandchildren, Matthew Hinds, David Samarripa and wife, Esmeralda, Renee Samarripa, Ashley Hernandez, and Kathryn Hernandez; and one great-grandchild, Lola Rae Samarripa. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; two brothers, Ismael B. Aguilar and Harvey Aguilar; two sisters, Elisa Flores and Rosa Garcia; and one sister-in-law, Carrie Aguilar. The family will hold a private memorial and burial service at a later date.
