Florentina M. Perez, 72, of Uvalde died on April 26, 2016, at the Amistad Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Uvalde. A rosary will be recited today at 7 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary. A mass of Christian burial will be held tomorrow at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church. Perez was born on Oct. 16, 1943, to Celestina (Lopez) and Bernardo Martinez. She married Joaquin Perez III in Uvalde on Sept. 28, 1958. She is survived by two daughters; Gloria Perez Velasquez and companion, Fidel Ramos, and Ester Perez and companion, Marco Blanco, all of Uvalde; one son, Joaquin M. Perez IV and wife, Jade, of Uvalde; four sisters, Amelia Ybarra and Adelina Rangel, both of Uvalde, Nena Garcia and husband, Armando, of Eagle River, Wisconsin, and Petra Garza of Prosser, Washington; 15 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Perez was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one son, Gilberto Perez; four sisters, Maria Ortega, Manuela Borrego, Julia Aguilar, and Minerva Alvarez; and one brother, Serverano Lopez. Cremation is under the direction of Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary.
