Betty Lou Hoag, 86, of Uvalde died on May 17, 2016, at her residence. A graveside memorial service will be held tomorrow at 11 a.m. at the Uvalde Cemetery. She was born on Aug. 21, 1929, in Burnet to Leta (Howell) and Jefferson Russell Keele Jr. She married Stephen Hoag on June 14, 1947, in Uvalde. Hoag was a long term member of the South Getty Church of Christ in Uvalde. She was employed as a teller at First State Bank of Uvalde for many years, and served as a secretary to former Vice-President John Nance Garner and his son, Tully Garner. She is survived by her husband of 68 years; one son, Stephen Hoag Jr. and wife, Jany, of Waco; two daughters, Sandra Voiles and husband, Mike, of Kerrville and Susan Webb and husband, Ronnie, of Boerne; six grandchildren, Collin Hoag, Suzanne Steece, Jeff Webb, Jason Webb, Jennifer Aiken, and Andrew Voiles; and 12 greatgrandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Molly Nan Holmes; and one brother, Jefferson Russell Keele III. Cremation was under the direction of Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary.
