Martha Linda Bermea Maldonado, 66, of Eagle Pass died of an illness on May 17, 2016, in Eagle Pass. She was born on Feb. 13, 1949, in Crystal City to Maria (Bermea) and Hermenejildo Maldonado Sr. She attended La Pryor Elementary and graduated in 1967 from La Pryor High School. She attended Southwest Texas Junior College where she obtained an associate degree. She then earned a bachelor’s degree from Sul Ross State University. She started her teaching career of 37 years in Eagle Pass. The family says she loved life, teaching, reading and traveling; when she couldn’t travel, she would take journeys in her mind by reading books. She was preceded in death by her mother. Maldonado is survived by her father, of La Pryor; two brothers, Hermenejildo “Herman” Maldonado Jr. of La Pryor, and Dr. Ronald E. Zawacki Maldonado of Eagle Pass; two sisters, Guadalupe Norma Maldonado and Edna Maldonado, both of Eagle Pass; two nephews, Hermenejildo Maldonado III and Anthony Maldonado, both of La Pryor; three nieces, Maria Dominique Maldonado, Gabriella Casteneda and Samantha Castro, all of La Pryor; and one sister-in-law, Patricia Castro of La Pryor.
