Loraine E. Jechow

Loraine Elaine Henk Jechow, 89, of Uvalde died on May 23, 2016, in Uvalde. She was born on Sept. 24, 1926, to Elnora (Bertram) and Rudolph Henk in Zorn. The family says she married her sweetheart, the love of her life, Nelson Jechow on June 15, 1948, in New Braunfels. According to the family, throughout her life Jechow was a devoted wife to her husband, mother to her children, and beloved ‘’Oma’’ to her grandchildren. The family says that while they will miss her loving presence and the special twinkle in her eye, they take peace in knowing that she has been reunited with her previously departed loved ones. The family says Jechow was a faithful member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and enjoyed her association with friends at the Uvalde Garden Club and American Legion Post 26. She is survived by two sons, Michael Jechow and wife, Joy, of Uvalde, and Madison Jechow and wife, Deena Perkins, of Austin; five grandchildren, Luke Jechow of Houston, Elyssa Jechow of New York, New York, Hannah Jechow of Bryan, and Brooks and Bryce Perkins-Jechow, both of Austin; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and one sister, Myrtle Nolte. A rosary was recited on Friday at 7 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary. A funeral mass was held yesterday at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Uvalde, followed by interment at 3 p.m. at the Guadalupe Valley Memorial Park in New Braunfels. Pallbearers were Jechow’s grandchildren and Kenny Nolte. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the El Progreso Memorial Library, 301 W. Main St., Uvalde, TX, 78801, or the American Legion Post 26, P.O. Box 1186, Uvalde, TX 78801, or a charity of one’s choice.
