Jerry Tomas Jones, 50, of Rocksprings died on June 5, 2016, at the Uvalde Memorial Hospital. A viewing will be held today from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m at the Nelson Funeral Chapel in Rocksprings. Funeral services will be held tomorrow at 2 p.m. at the Rocksprings High School Auditorium. Dwight Faulk and Ray Melton will officiate. Interment will follow at the Rocksprings Cemetery. He was born in Uvalde on Dec. 30, 1965, to Eulalia (Talley) and Paul H. Jones Sr. He graduated high school in Comstock. He was selfemployed as a general contractor. The family says he was a contributing member of the Rocksprings community. He was an active member in the Rocksprings/ Edwards County Volunteer Fire Department, where he has served in the role of captain, assistant chief, and chief. According to the family, Jones had an enormous heart, and cared for his community, friends, family, and anyone else who crossed his path. Jones is survived by his wife, Deborah Rendon of Rocksprings; one son, Kyle Jones and wife, Nolly, of Uvalde; one daughter, Matty Jones of Uvalde; one step-daughter, Jacklyn Rendon of Rocksprings; two step-sons, Zachary Rendon of Rocksprings and Shane McNeil of Johnson City; three sisters, Jana Wagner and husband, Douglas, of Kerrville, Evelyn Hill and husband, Ronald, of McCoy, and Susan Messick of New Braunfels; 12 nieces and nephews; one granddaughter on the way; numerous great-nieces and great-nephews; countless friends; and his loyal canine companion, Leila. He was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather, John Parker; and one brother, Paul H. Jones Jr. Pallbearers will be Willy Richards, Paul Rupp, Glenn Hendley, Taylor Hamm, Eddie Franco, and Zachary Rendon. Honorary pallbearers will be Lon Hunn, T.J. Terry, Shane McNeil, Joey Rendon, and Andy Rendon. The family is grateful to the community for the support. Memorial donations may be made to the Rocksprings Edwards County Volunteer Fire Department, P.O.
