
Francisco Lara Sr., 66, of La Pryor died on June 11, 2016, in San Antonio. He was born on Oct. 6, 1949, in La Campana, Durango, Mexico, to Luz (Sandoval) and Victor Lara Franco. He is survived by his mother, of Uvalde; six sons, Jesus Victorino and wife, Lucy, of Uvalde; Jose Lara and wife, Tamecika of La Pryor, Charles Lara of Waco, and Francisco Lara Jr., Jose Alfredo Lara, and Samuel Lara, all of Uvalde; five daughters, Priscilla Garza and husband, Isidro, Soveida Portillo and husband, Michael, and Maricruz Martinez and husband, Lorenzo, all of La Pryor, Laura Canales of Oklahoma, and Reyna Saiz of Kansas; five brothers, Juan Lara and wife, Maria, and Daniel Lara and wife, Bertha, all of La Pryor, Victor Lara and wife, Cecilia, and Anselmo Lara and wife, Teresa, all of Uvalde, and Carlos Lara and wife, Dionisia, of New Mexico; four sisters, Adela Moreno, and Mary Bustos and husband, Rodrigo, all of Uvalde, Lucy Gutierrez and husband, Armando, of Austin, and Eva Vasquez and husband, Alberto, of Bryan; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father; wife, Alma Lara; three brothers, Jose Arturo Lara, Gerardo Lara, and David Lara; and one sister, Nora Lara. Funeral services were held yesterday at 2 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, followed by interment at La Pryor Cemetery. Pallbearers were Jesus Victorino, Jose Lara, Isidro Garza, Michael Portillo, Lorenzo Martinez, Jesus Victorino Jr., Michael Portillo Jr., Camilo Portillo, and Jose Lara Jr.
