Helen Elizabeth Manis, 77, of Utopia died on June 12, 2016, at her home. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, at 2 p.m. at the Living Waters Church in Utopia. The Rev. Robert Richarz will officiate. She was born on June 25, 1939, in Detroit, Michigan to Loretta (Conroy) and Alex Henry Rush. She is survived by her husband, Robert Manis Sr. of Utopia; two daughters, Deborah Cox and Shawna Romo-Faseler, both of Leakey; five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Alex Cook; one brother, Alex Rush; and one sister, Patricia Rush Gilbert. The family says she had a kind heart and a gentle spirit; always put her family first; and had a warm spot in her heart for stray animals. According to the family, she loved the Lord with all her heart, and will be held in the family’s hearts and memories forever.
