Ruth Paula Spoon Harris Jennings, 68, of Uvalde died on April 20, 2016, in San Antonio. She was born on Dec. 30, 1947, in Mebane, North Carolina to Christine (Barneycastle) and James Spoon. She attended Mebane High School and graduated from Burlington Business College. She graduated from the University of Texas at San Antonio in 1992. A teacher by vocation, she taught in San Antonio and for the Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District. After retiring, she continued to work as a substitute teacher at Uvalde High School. She is survived by her husband, Frank M. Jennings of Uvalde; one son, Edward Harris Jr. of Uvalde; one daughter, Denise Cheryl Harris Jennings of San Diego, California; two grandchildren, Dylan and Sklyar Posey of San Diego, California; two brothers, Jeffry Spoon of Conroe, and David Mangum of San Antonio; and one sister, Sarah Webster of Bassett, Virginia. She was preceded in death by her parents. A graveside funeral service will be held at a later date at the Hillsborough Town Cemetery in North Carolina.
